1. Tramlines Festival, 22-24 July 2016

Over the years, the annual Tramlines Festival has grown to become a Sheffield trademark. Inspired by the city's tram network and marked by a distinctively local feel, the festival occupies and transforms various venues and public spaces throughout the city. In addition to its fantastic headliners, the festival draws tens of thousands of visitors because of its unique atmosphere that enlivens the entire city. Declared the "Best Metropolitan Festival" in 2011, Tramlines is one of those events that you definitely shouldn't be missing this July. This year's headliners are some of the best yet: hip-hop singer/songwriter Dizzee Rascal, British indie rock band Catfish and the Bottlemen, as well as the famous funk and soul ensemble George Clinton & The Parliament Funkadelic will be performing on stages throughout the city centre. Since it was first held in 2008, Sheffield Pride has drawn thousands of members of the LGBT community and their allies, gradually becoming the largest Pride festival in Yorkshire. Unlike some other Pride events throughout the country which take the form of a parade, Sheffield Pride is a one-day festival boasting a number of music stages, a market place, karaoke, as well as other activities celebrating diversity and freedom of expression. This year's festival will be held at Encliffe Park, is free of charge and will feature over 20 musical performances and numerous other activities and happenings. 3.
