Top 5 Things to Do in Sheffield This November

Remember remember the 5th of November, the gunpowder treason and plot. I know of no reason, why the gunpowder treason... should ever be forgot!

Sheffield welcomes many spectacular firework displays and bonfires throughout the city and many other unmissable events this November.

1. Illuminate the gardens 4th- 5th:

The Botanical gardens are stunningly beautiful at the best of times, but this November come down to see the gardens colourfully illuminated by fireworks. Along with the firework display, this 2 night event sees food and drink stalls, live music and a 'no bangs' firework display for those who are less keen on the loud noises. There is also a treasure hunt for children where there are 8 stamps plotted around the park, the first 250 children to collect all 8 stamps can claim a free prize! With many food and drink stalls, this event promises to be the best option for all the family this bonfire night.

2. After Dark 3rd:


Hosted by Hallam FM radio, After Dark has been the biggest firework display/bonfire event in Sheffield for many years. With crowds of up to 20,000 people, the bonfire is lit at 7.30pm. After Dark offers fun for all ages; there are exciting fare ground rides, food and drink stalls, fireworks, a bonfire and music hosted by the Hallam FM DJs. This event is great for those who like the busy hustle and bustle of a buzzing arena atmosphere. Tickets are £10 for adults, £5 for children and can be bought online.


3. Christmas Markets 17th - December:

Its that time of year again, to get wrapped up and venture into the city centre to explore the Christmas markets. From past experience, Sheffield has some of the best Christmas markets around in the UK with an extremely vast and varied amount of stalls stretching to 50 cabins in total. These markets are the perfect place to get wrapped up and truly venture into your festive spirit. If you believe your family deserve more than socks this Christmas come down to Fargate where you will find dozens of homemade trinkets, knitwear and sweet treats. It is the perfect place to begin your Christmas journey whilst nursing a hot cider or enjoying a delicious German Hotdog! This magical experience is topped off with a visit from Santa for the little ones (or even the big kids) in Santa's Christmas grotto.

4. School of wizardry 1st - 5th:

This event is for all those witches and wizards whose Hogwart's letters got lost in the post! If you have been desperately practising your spells at home with a pencil for your wand and a sweeping broom as a broomstick, then this event is for you! Come to Meadowhall shopping centre and truly put your wizardry and witchery skills to the test! At the school of wizardry for 6 days only, you can learn the art of spell making, wand creating and grasp the true skill of riding a broomstick. There are various workshops throughout the 6 day event, so book online to avoid disappointment!

5. Crazy For You 7th - 11th:

The fantastic Crazy For You production comes to Sheffield this November. With Strictly Come Dancing stars Caroline Flack and Tom Chambers, the lyceum theatre welcomes the famous love story between New York lovers; Bobby and Polly. The story goes that the theatre that Polly's family owns is set to close down. Bobby, after falling for Polly, decides to save the theatre by organising a show stopping performance! With the all singing, all dancing cast and the fantastic musical talents of Charlotte Wakefield, Crazy For You is set to be an uplifting, unmissable, feel good addition to your November this year!
